Down by The River you can hear the people pray
And if you listen to the wind you can hear what they say
I lie awake I can hear them sing about amazing grace
And a place called Heaven not so far away
Well let me tell ya I’m an honest man - always had it all worked out
Until the day that the preacher came and took away my doubt
He led me down where the people prayed and the waters run so deep
And I gave my heart to Jesus and He took my soul to keep
